Landscaper's Companion App Reviews

10 Customer Reviews:

This is a nifty little application, like a plant journal with built-in info, and definitely worth what I paid for it. The only thing that would make it better would be the ability to add plants to the database, in addition to adding pictures and notes to existing plants. Besides that its exactly what I needed. Something simple & visual with basic information.

Well, its an amazing app. Has helped me a lot. But, it crashes on occasion, and when i click on a plant after searching, nothing pops up, even the ones with a picture. Otherwise its great.

I downloaded this onto my mac, and it doesnt seem to work. When I click on the same of a plant, the information only comes up about 20% of the time. I have a DSL connection that seems to work for everything else; so I dont think thats the problem. I tried to send an email using "send feedback," but it didnt go through. It seems like a good idea, but is a waste of money as is.

Now that the bugs that I experienced are fixed I am very pleased with the app, though I wish there was more detail and photos of some varieties but I am sure this will come with time. I have not seen an app at this price point that can compete with this app. Worthwhile purchase With version 1.2, I attempted to preload the database but I stopped the download at 32 Gig, thats right Gigabytes. Without the database download I found it faster to Google the results rather than waiting for the app to download the data. I have not tried at the 1.3 version but no need to as long as I am connected.

It does not crash. In fact it is taking quite a lot of time to launch the first time. Then after everything is going well and smooth. Having moved recently from Minnessota, USA, to Nairobi, Kenya, I would like to be able to add some species founded here and to have access to specialized web links to recognize others that I am not able know to find. Otherwise I have enjoyed all the improvements realized since the first version of the app, which I have now in all versions (destop, iPad and iPhone).

And that was in November after numerous emails, throw out this, throw out that, reinstall. I was ready to use it to try to figure out what to replace some old trees set for removal. It had potential. Set for permanent removal after this review. Will try for refund.

I was hoping to use this program to create a profile of my own yard and garden, adding photos of my own trees and strubs. I thought this would help me keep track of fertilizer needs and water needs. From what I read, I thought I would be able to add plants and trees on my property, but I dont seem to be able to do that. The Search feature is very limited. One has to already know the exact name of the plant or tree. I can search for "Maple" for instance, but need the exact type of Maple. "Red Maple" or "Summit Maple." I want to look at all Maples. I can scroll but there are too many plants to really do that easily. All in all, I dont know if these are bugs or limitations.

This app is an amazingly accurate and thorough compilation of thousands of plants, with stunning photos. The developers, who are friendly and accessible, should be congratulated!

I am sorry I bought this app. I was looking for ideas to plant two woodland gardens, and the screenshot made it seem likely this would help. It did not. You cannot search by plant uses, even though that is a term displayed in each plants listing. So I went to a nursery web site in my area (well 300 miles away but in my zone) and got some plant info. Then I tried to look them up on this app. It was very difficult. I put in the Latin name of a plant and got hundreds of hits in alphabetical order. I tried the common name- same thing. For example- Acer Japonica should give a specific result: Japanese Maple. Instead every kind of Maple and every kind of plant with "Japonica" in its scientific name showed up. Despite all these headaches when I did find what I was looking for, I added the plants to the Favorites List. Was it printable or exportable to take with me to the nursery? No again! I used Mac Grab to take a screen shot of the plants I was interested in and took it with me. My money would have been better spent on bags of mulch.

Ever since I bought it I havent been able to explore it because the minute I try to open a different type of plant it closes the app. Its being reported many time times but it remains the same. All products should be inspected and tried before selling. Very disappointed because there are not too many options out there for these kind of apps.
